Color difference of laminate floor and its control
List:Industry News Time:2020-03-27

The problem of product color difference caused by the color difference of the base paper during the production process, the instability of the dipping process, the texture of the surface template and the difference in gloss are analyzed, and the method of determining and controlling the color difference of the laminate floor is explained.

Laminate flooring

1 Overview

Laminate flooring (scientific name: impregnated paper laminated wood flooring) usually consists of a surface layer (abrasion-resistant layer, surface paper containing abrasion-resistant materials such as aluminum oxide), a decorative layer (printing paper produced by computer simulation), and a substrate (Mostly adopt high-density fiberboard, medium-density fiberboard or special form of high-quality particleboard) and balance layer (generally made of a certain strength thick paper impregnated in melamine or phenolic resin). It is widely used due to its wear resistance, easy installation, wide range of price options, and diverse colors.

Laminated flooring was introduced to China from Europe in the 1990s. After more than 20 years of development, its production technology and quality have been relatively stable. Consumers have gradually become more professional from "laymen". When buying products, they not only focus on their functions, but also pay more attention to the colors and patterns of the products. Although reinforced products are different from solid wood products, the decorative layer on the surface of reinforced products completely depends on the color of decorative paper. In theory, there is no problem of natural color difference of solid wood. However, in actual production, the color difference of reinforced products always exists, and the paper layer is impregnated. There is no specific regulation on product color difference in the national standard for pressed wood flooring. Whether it is to meet the aesthetic needs of consumers or to avoid potential quality disputes, the cause of product color difference in the production process should be carefully analyzed, and relevant measures should be taken to avoid it. Or reduce product chromatic aberration.

2 Causes of chromatic aberration

2.1 Product color difference caused by base paper color difference

The surface decoration effect of reinforced products is mainly determined by the decorative paper. The color and pattern of the decorative paper determine the color and pattern of the finished floor. Most of the domestic decorative paper production uses three-color or four-color overprinting technology. The accuracy of the overprinting process determines whether the decorative paper will run out of color. If the misregistration between several inks during overprinting is too large, the color tone of the decorative paper will change back and forth, and the color tone of the decorative paper produced in different batches cannot be consistent, which will cause color difference in the floor produced in different batches. In order to avoid product color difference caused by overprint deviation, it is usually required to control the overprint deviation of printed decorative paper within 0.5 mm.

Second, because different inks show different colors under different spectral lengths, printing inks used by different manufacturers will produce different color effects. Foreign inks have done relatively well. The colors exhibited in most of the spectrum are consistent, while some domestic inks have obvious differences in color under natural light and under fluorescent lights. For laminate flooring manufacturers, decorative paper is an important raw material. In order to ensure the consistency of product color tone and the stability of quality, a reliable quality brand must be selected when purchasing decorative paper. This not only ensures the stability of the original paper color tone, but also Guaranteed the color fastness of the base paper. At the same time, the raw paper purchased in each batch needs to be compared with the standard sample when entering the factory. The color matching between the two should be above 95%. The original paper standard samples should be stored in a lightless constant temperature and humidity environment. If the conditions do not allow or the frequency of use is high, the standard samples should be replaced once a year. When replacing the standard samples, pay attention to the degree of matching between the replacement samples and the standard samples must be 99%. the above.
